The orientation cross-country trainings at West Point tested not only the physical agility, intelligence and orientation skills, but also the ability to quickly make correct judgment and decisive decisions under pressure, adaptability to changes, team organization and coordination ability, and goal acceptance and consistency. These qualities are key to leadership.
Doctor and Colonel John offered “leadership identity establishment” training in the U.S. Army and West Point course. The training lectured on the “added value” of leadership development of the West Point model and leadership training of the U.S. Army and West Point model, and made the point that leadership qualities are to lead others in the mass and emphasize on communication. Officer Doctor Jack from West Point introduced the strategic framework composed of candidate choosing, leader development system and leadership growth of the academy training numerous political and business elites, and the goal of training and educating leaders.
The first SHOTO “Benchmarking Study Tour” 2012 was a collision between historically excellent leadership culture of Harvard and West Point and the continuous innovation culture of SHOTO, and a deep exchange between world culture and SHOTO culture. The beneficial tour had allowed our trainees to understand how the leadership features and execution requirements of Harvard and West Point coincide with the current, international and vibrant SHOTO culture. It’s hoped that SHOTO culture can be kept alive in the new period.
This training has broadened the horizon and improved the team organization, leadership, management and cohesiveness of our trainees. From this great starting point, SHOTO will send more high-performing manager representatives to the top academic institutions and renowned corporations across the world for various trainings.
